This year's panto offering from Upchurch Players ….Aladdin , with a cast of thirty odd, how can I single anyone out. Adam James and Sally Candy (Directors) - you pulled this cast together (all local I believe) and moulded them all onto the smallest stage I have in my area. Village halls around the county are amazing.
Adam James the writer took in all the elements of a traditional panto into his plot with thought for everyon - well done. The home-built set was simple, colourful, workable, and above all depicted where we were. Costumes were period and very colourful too. Lighting was in the very capable hands of, veterans of sound and light, Dave Neale and Noel Dollimo - spot on guys. Musical direction by young Jakob Tyson was slick and on cue at every point of the panto. The cast were all playing their parts with as much gusto as they could from the Dame down to the younger ones. Stage movement was limited and there seemed to be no room at times. This didn’t matter they were entertaining us - your audience loved the fun and frivolity from the adults and the young kids. To sum up - Adam James and Sally Candy you should be very proud of what you have achieved and very pround of all those that helped you put this Aladdin in place. It showed in the very noisy audience you had on Saturday afternoon. Adam James start writing your next one, and keep your cast for next year, let's keep panto pantomime in Upchuchalive for many years to come. Well done to all involved I tittered all the way through.
