This Company has a big following in the area, and although the venue is quite small, the Production Team seem to overcome any difficulties which may arise. The audience were delighted with the piece and reacted well to the entertainment.

Scenery and props were adequate and make up and costumes were excellent. The title role was in the capable hands of Charlotte Stevenson with Geoff Skelhorn pulling out all the stops with his portrayal of Wishee Washee, Aladdin’s Brother. Keith Woods gave us a threatening performance as the wicked Sultan, Abanazar, receiving  the appropriate hisses and boos from the audience. I liked the contribution from Julie Turner as Slave of the Ring, who delivered her script with superb timing. Dynamic Duo, Jenny Phillips and Linda Skuse were right on cue as police officers Ping and Pong respectively. There was nothing stopping Donna Jones with her characterisation of Aladdin’s mother, Widow Twankey. Donna didn’t hold back with any of her script and had the audience in the palm of her hand from her first entrance. Well done. Regal performance from David Cooper as Emperor of China and Grace Ward was just perfect as Princess Jasmine, Emperor’s daughter. A creditable performance from Katie Skuse as Genie of the Lamp and all minor roles and chorus numbers were well executed.

Panto is a big undertaking, but a fun filled evening with audience participation was enjoyed by a very appreciative audience, and all involved in the production, technical, backstage crew, together with the enthusiastic production team, deserved the accolade they received.
Thank you CHAPS once again.
