Woodhouse Players presented two one-act plays, one of which, A.I. (Artificial Irritation), was written by member Tom Mallender. The two plays catered for members of different ages and experiences and complemented each other well, both being great comedies and very entertaining.
The subject of AI showed that as modern technological developments race forward and enter people’s sitting rooms, the need for understanding and adoption becomes ever more challenging for many, especially the elderly. This was accutely observed by the writer in his own family. The characters of Dot, Frank and Angela were appealingly drawn and contrasted with the ever willing but tested Victoria. These four were given sufficient depth over the forty minutes to allow the audience to get to know these people.
12 Hr Life follows a serendipitous meeting between Dylan and Samantha and how they spend the day together. Each influenced to other as they grew together and then separate on different trains. It was beautifully directed and acted by this small team showing the very high standards of amateur drama from Woodhouse Players.
