Thank you for inviting me to your production of Agatha Crusty and the Village Hall Murders and for the warm welcome I received from your front of house team. We were seated at tables for the performance and were treated to a tasty ploughman’s supper in the interval.
This play needs to move at a good pace, to keep the audience fully engaged and bring out all the comedy in it. With perfectly timed lines and bags of character, the KATS cast did just that, always keeping their energy up to deliver an excellent and entertaining show. The director and her team had clearly worked hard with the actors to create their characters and develop their relationships. The whole cast worked well together to deliver the quick and witty dialogue perfectly which in this production flowed effortlessly between them without hesitation.
The curtain opened and the stage revealed a fabulous looking box set, in the style of a village hall. Everything was there from notice boards to fire exit signs, a ballet barre and cleaning cupboard. It was a sturdy, effective set which worked perfectly for this production. The props were well sourced with great attention to detail. The easels daubed with colourful paint splatters and the pieces of knitting for the knitting club were perfect. Oliver’s cocked rifle and brace of rabbits were great and the change of costumes on the tailor’s dummy which changed at each scene change helped to mark the passing of time.
Thank you so much for an enjoyable evening and congratulations to the cast and production team on an excellent production. I look forward to joining you again in the future.
