Addams Family Young@Part

Thank you very much for the very warm welcome on arriving to see the latest production from this prolific and talented company Odyssey Theatre Productions this time from the Junior arm of the company. This was The Addams Family Young@Part the junior version of the popular modern musical based on the classic television series which aired in America from 1964 until 1966. I remember watching the programme as a teenager and being completely captivated by the characters and the humour of how everything strange and creepy was completely normal for this unusual family. Today’s performance brought back happy memories and reminded me just how amusingly ‘kooky’ the Addams family were. The appreciative audience was treated to some super acting from these very young people who really gave some outstanding and mature performances.

We were treated to some cracking performances from the principal players and some wonderful support from the enthusiastic and energetic ensemble.You all had so much enthusiasm and energy and were all focused at all times. The singing was very good and everyone knew their words and the dance steps. I liked all the different characters which had been created. Unfortunately there was only one photograph in the programme of the whole cast with a list of ancestors and the person playing that character so I’m afraid I can’t single out each performance. What I can say is that you had each created your own character and remained in that character throughout the show. I noticed also that everyone was certainly putting everything into their performances and you all looked splendid in your various spooky costumes and wonderful make-up. I hope you all enjoyed taking part as much as we, the audience, enjoyed watching you all!! Congratulations to all of you!

This was a super evening of top notch musical theatre from the opening chorus to the clever curtain call the whole performance was one to relish. I hope all the cast of principals and ensemble feel very proud of their considerable achievements and this has made you all look forward to your next appearance on stage.
