As Director of this most entertaining Francis Durbridge play, David Read succeeded in maintaining a smooth flow of action and a clarity of diction. Jo Andrews, in the lead role, gave a most relaxed and confident performance. Commendable appearances were also made by the two ladies in his life: his ex-wife (Coral Hills) and his secretary (Jenny Walton). All the remaining roles were admirably filled by a very competent cast, working well together and living their individual characters. As is ever the case at Newick, considerable time, effort and skill is spent in presenting a stage setting of the highest calibre. Lighting and costumes were well up to standard. Everything at Newick is impressively organised by teams of backstage and front of house workers. This, together with dedicated performers, results in a delightful family atmosphere, which is a joy to experience.
