The Poole and Parkstone Players and Singers annual event “A Summer Cocktail”   makes its return this year, and as always it was very entertaining .

The Players opened the first half with a short One Act Play “ A Tale of Two Lovers”  which had been adapted from  “A Midsummer Nights’ Dream”  Edited and Directed by Chris Roberts. This was an excellent spoof play with some superb examples of  ham acting .  it was well delivered with great timing and proved to be very funny .

It the second half of the evening the Players presented two shorts scenes. The first from “ A Touch of danger “ by Francis Durbridge , the second from “10 Abbey Court “ by Cheryl Barrett and both were directed by Clare l’Anson.  Both scenes were performed well and both  were very enjoyable.  Great credit must be given to Crispin Goodall , who at short notice had to take over a part in ”10 Abbey Court”  and gave a credible performance with the script in hand

The Singers, a choir of twenty directed by Jane McDouall completed each half.  I thought that this present set up of The Singers sounded absolutely wonderful with a perfect blend of voices and their harmony singing was outstanding throughout

I really enjoyed each and every number, starting with the Ascot Gavotte from “My Fair Lady”  through to Dance a Cachucha from “The Gondoliers” there was a varied selection that included music from the Beatles and Elton John and many others, that were all sang to same high standards. At the end evening I did feel that the audience would have very much appreciated an encore from The Singers

Yet another wonderful evening enjoying the talents of Poole & Parkstone Productions, my congratulations to all concerned
