The City of Salisbury has had more than its share of bad press in recent months after a major international incident. People have been avoiding visiting to the City, and it has caused major financial implications to many organisations within Salisbury.

Luckily the Salisbury Arts Centre is just out of the city centre and has been relatively unaffected by restrictions elsewhere in the city. Therefore Musical Theatre Salisbury, who are busy fund raising for their next major production, were able to go ahead with this wonderful concert and I am happy to report that the venue had a capacity audience

The multifunctional Arts centre is a converted church so the set was simple black tabs. The company all wore black throughout, with occasional trimmings added and excellent use was made of the lighting to create the right atmosphere.

“A Song to Sing” was a very enjoyable concert in which all company members were given their chance to share the limelight.  This company certainly seems to have lots of young talented members to call on

Hail Poetry from Pirates of Penzance got the evening off to a rousing start and we were treated to two hours of superb entertainment.

It was a refreshing change to hear musical numbers from lessors know shows and many were arranged for multiple voices instead of having just a single performer on stage.

The Highlights for me were, The Speed Test from Thoroughly Modern Millie, Murder Murder from Jeykell and Hyde, Bui Doi from Miss Saigon, Sing for Your Supper from The Boys from Syracuse  and The Ballad of Benny and Freda by Victoria Wood,  performed by three couples provided the outstanding comedy number of the evening

The company were accompanied by a small orchestra, and because of the wonderful acoustics in the church, every song was clearly heard without the use personal of microphones

A fabulous evening, congratulations to all concerned
