Harrow Opera presented this entertaining opera based on the assassination of Gustave lll of Sweden for their post-pandemic return. This three act tragedy is sprinkled with comedy, conspiracy, passion, sorcery, gallantry, pomp and circumstance. The production was staged using minimal sets to great effect - using rostra and furniture plus special lighting to represent the various locations.  The singing and characterisations were all splendid. Their voices and the piano accompaniment (played by the MD) filled the theatre brilliantly - with not a microphone in sight.  The small well drilled chorus supported the principals perfectly.
