A delightful three hander play set mainly in the kitchen of a cottage in a British coastal town which tells of the widow of a trawlerman and her reluctance to develop her life and situation, despite the encouragement of her adult daughter. That is until an American traveller looking for a few weeks’ accommodation walks into her life.

The play is gentle, poignant and funny and is a fabulous vehicle for gifted actors to get deep into their characters. This is exactly what the LADS cast did so well, ably directed by the experienced Jean Cooper. They created genuinely believable characters set in the most wonderful working kitchen and thus took the audience into their world.

The plot brings hope to all three characters and enables them to grow in confidence and disclose back stories as the play progresses. This sets up the opportunity for some well crafted character development that was a joy to watch.

This is perhaps a lesser known play, but for a group looking for a piece to stretch a few  talented actors, it is highly recommended.
