This wonderful production, A Comedy Triple Bill, was three well-chosen and One Act plays that were all very cleverly directed to produce an evening full of laughter.
“ Last Tango In Little Grimley” tells the story of a struggling local drama group who after a series of flops are down to four members and are facing closure. They decide to do one last production and to attract an audience they hint that it will contain sex and nudity, Suddenly the have found out the secret to success. The play was well delivered with four excellent performances and it was certainly very funny .
“ Joining The Club” is a simple two-hander. the story of Jenny, a successful career woman, who has just discovered that she is pregnant, when her husband Tom comes home from work and announces that he has quit his job. I was very impressed with the two cast members, who gave very nicely paced performances, bringing out both the comedy and the pathos of the play. I thought it was very believable and close to reality. Excellent.
“ A Jolly Sinister Jape “ Set in the !920’s, this was a fabulous melodrama comedy which was slightly bonkers. The play had hilarious character names, some non-pc innuendos, and quickfire comedy which was delivered at a great pace with wonderful over the top “posh” accents. Each actor seemed perfect for their role, another four excellent performances
The sets for each play were kept simple, for ease of changing and with the use of a projected back were very effective. I thought that all the cast members in this company showed great stage presence, and together with great timing and delivery of their scrips, they brought the wonderful comedy in each of the plays to life.
A very enjoyable evening, my voice was a little hoarse after laughing so much throughout, congratulations’ to all concerned
