This could be described as the ultimate triple threat musical, one act in a simple box set where every move, vocal and dramatic moment is exposed and there is nowhere to hide. TAOS had the good fortune to have a highly skilled line up that on the whole met every challenge set for them by their home grown production team. Director Phil Cox brought out the pathos and the humour of the piece and every member of the audience were totally engaged and on the edge of their seat waiting to see who would be the chosen 8 for the chorus line. All numbers were delivered with enthusiasm, highlights being ‘Nothing’, Dance Ten, Looks Three’ and ‘What I did for love’. Pauls monologue was heart wrenching and beautifully delivered. The use of light, mirrors and shadows worked really well within the black box acting space, especially during Cassie’s solo piece. Sound was clear and unimposing. Zach spent the majority of his time front of house, just as it is in a true professional audition situation and the audience were very much the voyeurs on some very personal and private moments. A difficult production beautifully executed and presented, congratulations TAOS.
