House Full, not just for this evening's performance but each and every night plus the Matinee, what a fantastic week for this talented enthusiastic cast that headed this wonderful feel good musical.

Music and Lyrics by Dolly Parton and based on the book by Patricia Resnick, the show premiered in Los Angeles in September 2008 based on the film of the same name.  Telling the story of Doralee, Violet and Judy, three office workmates pushed to extremes by their sexist and egoistical boss.  They extract revenge on the domineering, lecherous Franklyn Hart, and they turn the tables on him, but will events unravel when the CEO pays an unexpected visit?

This musical demands three strong female characters, and Halifax Light Opera Society had them, they dominated the show and worked well as a team.  This awesome threesome, Doralee, (Francesca Rosado) a Dolly Parton look alike,  Violet, (Adele Hill) continually overlooked for promotion, Judy, (Vickie Hawkins) the down-trodden and recently divorced one.  Each one had a wonderful stage presence and a powerful singing voice.  Sharon Holland gave an excellent portrayal of Roz Keith as the femme fatale who chased after her boss Franklin Hart.  An excellent character portrayal from Franklin Hart, (Martin Welsh) and Joe, (Henry Folkes) delivered a good interpretation of his role.

I really enjoyed the Choreography of the number in the second act " One of the Boys" , we had superb singing from the ensemble, a stage set that was moved efficiently and quietly in the many scene changes, and the costumes were just right for the period.

Congratulations to the new production team Gerard and Iain on this vibrant, enthusiastic production.
