This musical was written by Dolly Parton one of my favourite singers, and I love country music so this show was a winner for me. Not an easy show to produce I imagine but Rosalie Abel did an admirable job, the production was slick and professional despite the number of scene changes which were considerable, together with a good set. There were some excellent performances from the 3 leading ladies, Janet Brown as "Violet" captured the character perfectly and sang excellently, Donna Switzer-Green as "Doralee" gave a super performance with a great accent (based on Dolly Parton), together with excellent singing, and Suzy Corrigan as Judy was outstanding with her rendition of "Get out and Stay out" being memorable. Ken James as "Franklin" the evil boss was super and provided some good comedy moments. Helena Graham as "Roz" was smashing, with a lovely voice and obvious acting ability. One slight negative occasionally the dialogue was difficult to understand due to the accents, however not easy southern American. The Band led by Sam Wormald were excellent just pitched correctly which was a pleasure, it was obvious that hard work had gone into the vocals, excellent. All the principals and ensemble gave professional performances which contributed to a smashing show, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Well done to all.
