Well, this was my first ‘9 to 5’ and being a Dolly fan I was hoping for good things and not just from the excellent music. I was not disappointed!
The set was simple but effective, with good costumes and great lighting.
The ensemble were good and well-focused on stage at all times. The choreography was excellent and I was very impressed with all dance numbers.
There were some great performances and mention must go to Gemma Harris-Evans as Violet, Naomi Davies as Judy and Steven Paul McCarthy as Franklin Hart Jr who were very good on stage and demonstrated lovely acting and vocal ability. Supporting them were Greg Drummer as Joe, Sean Williams as Dwayne, Aaron Harvey as Josh and Neil Parks as Dick, all of whom did a sterling job.
There were two stars of the evening for me and the first was the ever talented Kelly-Ann Allen as Doralee Rhodes. With outstanding vocal ability and a great stage presence one could only be delighted with the performance. The other star as Helen Morgan as Roz Keith. There was not a moment when Helen was on stage that we as an audience were not entertained. There was perfect characterisation and comic timing from this talented actress and a great voice too. I was so very impressed!
Many thanks for an entertaining evening!
