This musical based on the film with music by Dolly Parton needs a more "country" style of singing which not all established societies can carry off but this society carried it off superbly.

From the opening number to the final bows we were treated to a foot tapping array of music.

The trio of ladies, Violet (Cecilia Newstead) Doralee (Kelsea Richardson) and Judy ( Lucy Richards) all gave excellent performances. When they were singing together, as in "Shine Like The Sun" they held the stage, voices blending perfectly.

Matthew Bryant as Franklin Hart,Jnr the epitome of pompous, smarmy bully, and his number "Here For You" was a joy to watch.

The comedy moments with Roz( Lucy Draper) and her longing for Mr Hart ( Hart to Hart) and the scene where the 3 ladies get "stoned" has us all laughing out loud.

Joe ( Kerrigan Heffernan) another nice performance and a lovely sensitve rendition of "Let Love Grow".

The chorus numbers were all well choreographed and they gave us a great sound, they had obviously worked incredibly hard.

The set with its many short scenes was moved quietly and efficiently. Well done.

My one other observation was that the projection of Dolly Parton was poor and distracting and in retrospect may have been better with just the voice, however this was a sparkling production which kept the audience enthralled from beginning to end.

It was a pleasure to attend, thank you for you invitation.
