42ND STREET is perhaps one of the most enjoyable shows that any musical theatre company can perform with attractive dancing and very well known musical numbers. Crigglestone certainly made the most of it with brilliant tap choreography routines that were exhausting even to watch (full marks to Sarah & Vicky). The cast was strong in all roles. Stephen Waite led the way with a very impressive performance as Julian Marsh, his confident style did much to enhance the show. Josephine Gowing sang and tapped her way into our hearts with a most enjoyable performance, she was greatly helped by Matthew Reather as Billy Lawlor who is certainly one of the best at playing song and dance type parts in the area. Pippa Slater as Dorothy Brock was as usual very powerful in her interpretation but perhaps just a touch too strong at times. I must say that for me the pick of the bunch, out of a very strong team, was Victoria Wilkinson as Maggie Jones, she acted and sang with great confidence and was every inch right for the role. The production was well organised and benefitted from a good small orchestra and good sound, lighting and costumes. So much to enjoy, congratulations to all concerned.
