The moment the spot light went on, front of tabs, to reveal Julian Marsh (Nigel Dixon) whose rich baritone voice opened the show with the title song, you suspected this was going to be a good show. That suspicion was confirmed when the tabs lifted slightly to reveal a stage full of dancing feet, tapping in complete unison to the well orchestrated music, then slowly revealing a cast that had obviously been very well rehearsed, was word and note perfect, fully confident in every movement and dance step; consequently had genuinely happy smiles and were so obviously giving every ounce of their energy and enthusiasm to the production that it was impossible for the audience not to enjoy the spectacle before them.   The costumes and make – up were good, shoes were in period and I must mention the ladies hairstyles, each different but very much in keeping with the period without, for the majority of the time, having to resort to wigs. It was a joy to watch dancers who could not only tap but sing as well, a singing chorus who had mastered their simplified dance steps and a good set of Principals who completed this very pleasurable evening.
