Goole Amateur Operatic And Dramatic Society were celebrating 120 Years and what a wonderful celebratory Gala Performance it turned out to be. A great deal of thought had gone into these celebrations. It is not an easy prospect of choosing numbers to perform from 120 years of shows and concerts, but they did it! The setting with the backdrop of 120 Years in lights was perfect. There was such a great variety of songs with solos, duets, and ensemble numbers for all including the juniors. It was good to hear some of the old favourites of ‘Life Upon The Wicked Stage’ from ‘Showboat’, ‘The Black Hills Of Dakota’ from ‘Calamity Jane’, ‘It’s Never Too Late’ from ‘The Boyfriend’ and ‘Deep In My Heart, Dear’ from ‘The Student Prince’ all bring back wonderful memories. We then had some more up to date favourites of ‘ I Know Him So Well’ from ‘Chess’, ‘When I Grow Up’ from ‘Matilda’ and ‘You Will Be Found’ from ‘Dear Evan Hansen’. There were many more and the whole company treated us to a wonderful evening. It would be unfair to single out anyone as every member on that stage sang and danced their hearts out.
Congratulations to Director, William Knight, Musical Director, Rachel Flynn, Choreographer, Louise Wilkins, Vocal Coach, Frances Wood and all the production team on putting together such a wonderful celebration of 120 years. Long may the Society continue.
