NODA NW Youth — Mar 2022
Hello everyone!
Another month gone! And another month closer to our North West Regional awards event – very exciting. I can’t wait to meet so many of you face-to-face at the youth awards on the 30th April. It’ll be a brilliant night to celebrate our fantastic regional talent.
So, it’s time for our March round up. It’s been a month full of auditions, productions, and some generally awesome things going on in the world of NODA NW Youth.
I have had a few emails asking if societies can put more bespoke things in the newsletter – and, within reason, of course you can! It’s OUR youth newsletter so send me any news, events, special announcements, castings, or things you want to shout from the rooftops about to kit.phillips@noda.org.uk.
What’s Been Going On?
Myself, and many lucky audience members have been treated to some fantastic pieces of youth theatre this month.
Earlier this month, both Curtain Call Productions and CODYS Productions produced crowd-pleasing versions of ‘We Will Rock You’ which went down brilliantly with audience and cast-members alike. Curtain Call Productions will next be moving on to ‘Matilda Jr’ and CODYS Productions will be casting for ‘Rock Of Ages: Teen Edition’. Best of luck, and if you’re interested in being involved in either of those productions, why not drop the companies a message to join!
I had the privilege of visiting BCMCS Youth this month to watch their production of ‘Wind In The Willows: Young @ Part’. The last time I saw this group was during a digital lockdown concert, so it was brilliant to see them up on a stage. It was a brilliant show with fantastic vocal performances from the cast. Congratulations all!
During this month, First Act Arts also produced ‘Lion Boy’ at The Brindley Theatre and KPYT staged the first round of their National Connection’s production of ‘Variations’. If you missed it, no problems as it’s being performed again at the Crewe Lyceum on Monday 25th April.
If you would like me to join you at a production or a rehearsal, then drop me an email at kit.phillips@noda.org.uk
What’s In Store?
There’s some great youth-related shows and events coming up in the next few months! Thank you to everyone who got in touch with their exciting news!
S.O.N.G – I will be returning to Southport again this week to visit S.O.N.G and their third production since lockdown restrictions were eased, 'Shrek Jr.' The production team and cast have been working tirelessly to keep producing shows for their adoring audiences and I’m looking forward to seeing their next outing. The show is running from 7th – 9th April at The Atkinson!
NADOS – For the first time, I’ll be heading to Ashton-In-Makerfield to visit NADOS for their Easter pantomime, Cinderella! NADOS have a youth division, The NADOS Nippers, many of whom are appearing in the pantomime, so I’m heading along to support. There is huge value in having young performers working alongside adult performers, but due to the administrative requirements, many companies move away from doing so. I can’t wait to see you all! The show runs between 12th – 14th April at Byrchall High School.
SSSJ ADS – Something a little different this month, but I’ll be visiting SSSJ ADS this month to sit in on one of their committee meetings as NODA NW’s Youth Coordinator.
I’m always keen to visit companies and coming to sit on committee meetings is a great way to offer support and get an understanding of what our amazing societies have got in the works. Can’t wait to meet you all!
I know there is lots more brilliant, youth-related stuff going on this month, so break a leg everyone. Remember, if you want to be featured, just drop me an email!
