Exciting Opportunity for Directors in Leeds
EXCITING OPPORTUNITY
Cosmopolitan Players, an award winning amateur Society based in Leeds, are currently looking for someone with some big ideas to direct our next production! Could you rise to the challenge?!
We will be presenting the comedy Ben Hur, which is written by Patrick Barlow. If you saw their production of The 39 Steps in 2011 you will know the type of thing we are talking about - a farce with quick wit and some quick changes!
Based on the timeless story of one of the best-selling books of the nineteenth century, this stage adaptation follows an amateur theatre troupe as they produce the massive tale of the fictional Jewish prince and merchant Judah Ben-Hur. He falls to galley slaves and rises to champion charioteer within Jerusalem during the life of Jesus Christ, while the actors struggle along through the piece as rivalries form and offstage romances interfere. Complete with chariot race, sea battle, an orgy and stage combat!
Ben Hur will be at the Carriageworks Theatre from 9th - 11th May 2019 with four performances, and rehearsals are expected to begin late February 2019. If you are interested in directing or stage managing for this show, or would like further information, please contact the secretary by email - secretary@cosplayersleeds.co.uk by 31st December 2018.
