One of the greatest musicals of all time bursts onto the Palace Theatre stage as Studley Operatic Society proudly presents, West Side Story.
Inspired by Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, this electrifying tale of star-crossed love is set on the streets of 1950's New York, where tensions flare between rival gangs – the Jets and the Sharks. When Tony, a former Jet, falls in love with Maria, sister of the Sharks’ leader, their romance sparks a battle that threatens to tear their world apart.
With Leonard Bernstein’s unforgettable score, Stephen Sondheim’s soaring lyrics, and Jerome Robbins’ ground-breaking original vision, West Side Story is a passionate, powerful, and heart-breaking story of love, loyalty, and loss. Featuring iconic songs such as 'Tonight', 'Maria', 'America', and 'Somewhere', this award-winning musical promises an unforgettable evening of drama, dance, and dazzling performance from a NODA award-winning local society.
Based on a conception of Jerome Robbins.
