Verdi's King for a Day

 Guildford Opera present a sparkling comedy of disguise, romance, and mistaken identity. As the grand double wedding approaches, Mr King, the  guest of honour, is called away on urgent business, and  Count Belfiore is asked to impersonate his billionaire boss. With unexpected authority, he reshapes the couples, reunites true lovers, and rekindles his own romance before revealing who he really is. Verdi’s early comic masterpiece is presented in a stylish 1950s American setting, sung in English and accompanied by  chamber orchestra conducted by the music director, Lewis Gaston.
