The Pirates of Penzance

Set sail with Bookham Light Operatic Society for a lively, laughter‑filled production of “The Pirates of Penzance”.  The story follows Frederic, who was accidentally apprenticed to a group of well‑meaning pirates.  Now he’s finally old enough to leave them and is ready to start a new life — especially after meeting the lovely Mabel.  However, in typical Gilbertian fashion, a ridiculous turn of events threatens to keep him tied to the pirate crew for much longer than expected.

The show is packed with well-known and well-loved tunes.  You’ll hear the world‑famous Major‑General’s patter song, the sparkling “Poor Wand’ring One”, the rousing pirate choruses, and the wonderfully daft policemen’s numbers.  It’s the kind of show that makes you smile, tap your foot and carry on singing on your way home.
