Confusions by Alan Ayckbourn

The first of Hartley Players' centenary productions, Confusions is a set of interlinked plays - riotously comic, in typical Ayckbourn style, but with sharply observed characters with human foibles - dealing with the dilemma of loneliness:

Mother Figure, where a mother who spends all her time at home with her young children while her husband is away on business, receives an unexpected visit from her neighbours.

Drinking Companion,  where a travelling salesman tries to chat up a young woman in the bar of his hotel.

Between Mouthfuls, where recent events in the lives of two couples dining at separate tables in a restaurant gradually unfold.

Gosforth's Fête, where torrential rain and a non-working sound system are only the start of the afternoon's problems, and the event descends into farcical chaos.

Director: Margaret Bown

Cast: Carol Arman-Addey, Martin Arman-Addey, Ashley Assiter, Vanessa Bartlett, Jean Bentley, Graham Frosdick, Peter Harris, Yvonne Hegarty, Lindsey Hudson, Jessica Malpas, Nick Noakes, John Thompson
