Abigail's Party

Middle-class suburbia gets to reveal its darker side over the course of an increasingly uncomfortable drinks party in this production of Mike Leigh’s most famous title.

British suburbanites Laurence and Beverly are entertaining their new neighbours, Angela and Tony as well as Susan, whose teenage daughter, Abigail is having a party to which Susan has been dis-invited. Over drinks and snacks, cliches and fatuous small talk abound.

As the drinks flow, tensions rise and sniping, bickering, and drunken dancing ensue. Abigail’s Party is a biting satire of British middle-class aspirations in the 1970s.
