Preston Musical Comedy Society was formed in 1953 performing it's first production. The Desert Song at The Royal Hippodrome in 1954.

This was the first full scale amateur musical in Preston since before the Second World War and was a huge gamble for the Committee, some of whom 'took fright believing the show would never reach the boards'.

The courage of the remaining Committee paid off and, despite the show costing over £2,000, it played to packed houses and the Society was able to donate a substantial sum to charity.

The society has called many Theatres in Preston home since that first production. These have included The Gaumont, The Empire and The Charter Theatre which we still use along with The Playhouse.

Over the years the Society has helped many of it's members on their way to a successful career in showbiz- Alfie Boe, John Thomson, Tupele Dorgu, Jessica Pieterson (nee Taylor), Sophie McDonnell, Julie Atherton and Andrew Lancel to name just a few.

Preston Musical Comedy Society continues to be one of the most highly regarded companies in the North West. In recent years we have won more NODA awards than any other group in our region and we continue to present top quality musicals and pantomimes for the people of Preston.
