Rutland Musical Theatre was founded in 1980 by a small group of people who were keen to start the first 'Musical Theatre' Society in the County, this being due both to a love of music and theatre generally and also to preserve the name of Rutland - which at that time was under threat.
Acting and non acting members welcome.
The first show was Showboat, performed in Uppingham Theatre in April 1981 to much acclaim. Since then the Company has gone from strength to strength and is now a well respected part of the Rutland scene.
The Company has become a Registered Charity (No: 513497) and performs a major musical production each year.
RMT is an award winning member of NODA having won the award for both best musical for it's production of 'The Addams Family) directed by Tom Johnson and the reps special award for Stephen Sondheim's 'Into the Woods' directed by Lizzy Young in the 2024 season.
Our forthcoming productions are;
Sister Act April 2026
Company August 2026
Betty Blue Eyes April 2027
The Railway Children the Musical August 2027
