Ottery Community Theatre is an amateur society formed in 1985 following the very successful Colway Theatre Trust production of Ottery’s community play ‘The Ballad of Tilly Hake’ by Sheila Yeger. The society’s objective is ‘”to promote the performing arts and to encourage public appreciation of such arts in the community of Ottery St Mary and District”. Since its formation, the society has staged some memorable productions. Have a look at our Past Productions galleries on our web page otterycommunitytheatre.weebly.com/for a glimpse of what we do. All of OCT’s productions have been (and continue to be) organised without the benefit of a permanent home; rehearsals are held in a variety of places including the King’s School Drama Studio and the United Reformed Church. It is only during the weekend preceding a performance that the cast can “tread the boards” at the Institute, and the technical and construction crews work miracles every year in turning an empty space into a theatrical wonderland. Despite these difficulties, the standard of productions is a huge credit to the cast, crew and production team. New members are always welcome. If you would like to join in the fun in any capacity whether on stage or off, feel free to contact us
