Operama is an exciting new Amateur Theatre Company for South Yorkshire, rising from the ashes of Castle Theatre Company who were based in Deal, the new group will focus on small scale new and lesser known dramatic and musical works rarely seen out of the West End.Stephen Cresswell, Artistic Director of the company, started Castle Theatre Company some 17 years ago and since moving to Maidstone from Deal has been focused on directing for Canterbury Operatic Society garnering four Accolades of Musical Excellence from NODA for productions of ‘The Pyjama Game’, ‘Pirates of Penzance’ and ‘Into the Woods’, all performed at the Gulbekian Theatre and 'Sweeney Todd' at the Marlowe in Canterbury.“It has been a dream of mine to start up my own company again in order to go back to directing and producing more dramatic and lesser known works and I felt that the time was now right for doing this.”Anyone interested in joining me in this new venture are more than welcome to contact me via the link on the membership page.
