Cuckfield Dramatic Society

Cuckfield Dramatic Society (CDS) is an active and thriving amateur theatre group in Mid-Sussex just off the A23 near to Haywards Heath.

Most of our shows are performed in the Queen’s Hall in Cuckfield High Street, with traditional stage and raked seating, although we do branch out to other formats and locations on occasion!

We hold two major play performances a year (during the May and October half-term holidays) as well as two other annual shows in February and December plus further ad-hoc productions. Our reputation is rising and we usually attract both a good audience and high praise!

We also hold socialnights with a mix of dramatic and other activities, either for knowledge & skill development or fun – and usually both!

As part of the wider social scene of the village, we support and work with other charitable groups (such as the famous Independent State of Cuckfield) which helps keep us linked into the wider community. CDS tries hard to avoid becoming a society that is run by and always casts the same faces! We are known for making new members welcome and are always looking to encourage new blood not only on and off stage but also in directing/producing and in club administration as well.

So whether you are interested in acting, backstage, front of house, organisational work or just for support and social activities we are always glad to welcome new members. You don't even have to live in Cuckfield!

We are also happy to consider working with other societies and to both share and expand our knowledge and expertise in performing and/or organizing local entertainment!  We will share show publicity and other nearby auditions information and encourage all Mid-Sussex groups to liaise with each other.
