We are the longest established amateur musical comedy society in Blackpool. Established in 1950, we have produced over eighty productions from Operetta to West End Musicals. Since our first production of 'The Student Prince' to more recent shows, 'Summer Holiday' and Disney's 'Beauty and the Beast' all to great acclaim.

For over 60 years the Blackpool and Fylde Light Opera Company have been producing shows at various theatres across the Fylde coast. In Blackpool alone the society has performed at the Queens' Theatre, ABC Theatre, Winter Gardens Pavillion (sadly all no longer working theatres) and lastly and probably most important the Grand Theatre. Restored in recent years, probably the finest theatre in Blackpool.

At the time when the Grand was under threat to be demolished, BFLOC along with other local societies fought to keep it going. We all worked fervently to raise funds to help it remain an active theatre. After a great deal of effort, the work done by local residents and societies paid off and the theatre reopened. Since then the company have performed all its major annual productions at the Grand. It's an honour and a prvillage to perform on a stage where many professional and local performers have worked hard to entertain people.

Ok we are biased, but we are very good. Many of the shows from the past productions list are award winners. We have regulary received critical acclaim from NODA receiving awards for best overall production, best poduction in a musical and best choreographer and frequent individual performances to name but a few. We have a vibrant company that includes many talented youngsters aswell as a wealth of experience to draw on.

A wide range of acting, singing and dancing talent combine to deliver an irresistible mixture of youthful energy and experienced stagecraft.

Our professional production team provide direction that is both dynamic and sensitive to the individual production.

Like most amatuer companies we are always looking for new members. If you feel like having a go, come along to a rehearsal and have a look for yourselves. We rehearse most Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at 7.30 please contact us for further information. Not an actor or dancer and still feel you could offer something, we still need people to help backstage (costumes and scenery etc).
