You're No Vision

I was delighted to be able to log in to an online production from Griffin Players, using Zoom for those of us who were able to log on.  We were able to cast it to our TV for a large screen view of a fun evening.

The Committee came up with the idea to use a pre-agreed format to present a very cheesy version of Eurovision, with each country being represented by one person/family, who recorded a pertinent song to a backing track.  These were recorded in their own homes, and were then edited together, with graphics to make a complete show, which worked very well, and gave us no end of enjoyment, with the chance to vote for our favourites at the end.

It was presented by two people who kept the theme running and it was so lovely to see people we knew performing and giving their all.

We had entries from Iceland, Sweden, Ireland, the UK and Romania, with the winner coming from Romania.  The Swedish entry was performed by one person, but in two different guises, which were extremely well-edited together, as was the entry from Romania.

The event was well-publicised on Facebook, and I understand the 90 people allowed on Zoom was outstripped, with a number of people being disappointed.  However I believe they were able to pick up the production and watch it later, but unfortunately were unable to vote!

Such a delightful way to keep the Society members engaged and also their friends and audience.  Whilst the votes were counted an advert appeared for Griffins next online production.

A thoroughly good evening, enthusiastic performances and much appreciation from a theatre-starved audience.
