One of my favourite shows performed by a young company. I was all set for an enjoyable evening and I was not disappointed. From the start the young performers took command of the stage and worked hard to bring the story to life. Dorothy (Maria Dobrowolska) entranced us all with her sweet singing. Chase Ellis took on the dual role of Miss Gultch and Wicked Witch of the West, she gave both roles the villain treatment and her sinister laughs were spot on. The other dual roles Hunk/Scarecrow, Hickory/Tinman and Zeke/Cowardly lion were in the capable hands of Martha Christison, Eilidh Mackenzie and Khye Potter. All portrayed their characters well and sung their solos with confidence. Our other main characters were Aunt Em (Erin Swankie), Uncle Henry (Charli Tosh), Glinda (Evie Maddicks), Toto (Ari Dand) and last but not least Professor Marvel/The Wizard (Alex Osborne). Congratulations to you all for a job well done.
A special mention must go to the ensemble. All cleverly played numerous roles which required quick costume changes and a good awareness of the story.
The well-constructed set, quick changes, lighting, sound and special effects completed the picture. Well done to all backstage who worked hard to bring the performance to the stage.
This youth group should be proud of what they have achieved under the direction of Kelsey and Steven. And Kelsey and Steven should be proud of this group of budding talent.
As always excellent hospitality thank you for my invitation and I look forward to the next show.
