With no back cloths and 22 scenery trucks backstage plus a flying rig for 3 people, this was always going to be a very technical show.  Well done to director Bradley Green and the entire cast for embracing the show and going full out to give a terrific performance.

I saw the show on the first night and, as is often the case with short run shows, the technicals were not completely ironed out for this performance.  However I am sure that they will have been for the next one!  In truth the one or two slow scene changes did not detract from the performance, it was a shame that the ‘magic’ cello did not work but that’s not the fault of the performers.

Tim Cater, playing Darryl Van Horne, gave another great performance bringing the character to life in a truly ‘devilish’ way.  The three principal ladies, Lianne Larthe (Alexandra) Claire Wilson (Jane) and Louis Strachan (Sukie) were all outstanding and the team spirit was evident in the entire performance.

Stephanie Wilson (Felicia) and Dave Lobley (Clyde) gave convincing and strong performances, both actors are always a pleasure to watch.   Alice Masters as their daughter, Jennifer, is a welcome newcomer to LTC, although definitely an experienced performer, with an outstanding singing voice.  All the other principals produced strong performances and the ensemble all had their own characters too which made watching the show so enjoyable.

LTC is a very strong company and they are not afraid to tackle challenging shows, which this one certainly was.  The band, led by MD Ashton Moore, produced a good sound whilst not overwhelming the performers.  Regrettably the mics were not always brought up on time but, as I have already said, this was a very technical show and I am sure that the tech and dress rehearsals focussed on the flying and scene changes which were complicated.

Costumes were beautiful, I particularly loved the colour co-ordination for the townspeople, but there really wasn’t anything out of place, great attention to detail.

Another tour de force for LTC, well done.
