I really don’t know where to start writing about this superb production. From the opening number to the closing chorus this Sharron Burns production was enjoyed by young and old alike.
The costumes and sets just stood out. They could not have been better.
The production was written for the company by member Joanna Woodberry and continues the story of the four friends after the book written by Kenneth Grahame. She should really publish this.
Toad (Darrell Burns) arrives back at Toad Hall with Miss Toad in tow. But all is not what it seems. It takes a lot of thinking, and fun along the way for Ratty (Roger Rowlands), Mole (Nicki Drew) and Badger (Geoff Rowlands) to once again, help their friend out of a situation. The Weasels under the leadership of Sarah Mitchell, assisted by Sharron Burns were causing their usual trouble.
Instead of having a narrator for the piece, four of the maids from Toad Hall came on and told the story in words written to the tunes of some well known carols. A fantastic piece of writing.
This society is celebrating its 40th anniversary next year and if their celebrations are as good as what I have seen today, the audience are in for quite a treat.
