Rugby Theatre latest performance was “Who’s Afraid of Virgina Woolf” The Play is split into 3 Acts following George and Martha who live on campus and having attended a college mixer they invite Nick and Honey over for drinks!

A small cast of 4 took on the play.

Rayner Wilson as Martha and Nigel Westlake as George, gave very powerful and emotional performance, these roles demanded a lot and attention to detail, as well being very physical roles they were excellently executed throughout the entire performance.

Jack Sargent as Nick and Sophie Wood as Honey, only slightly smaller roles, but just as demanding and having to be spot on with lines as you listened to every word. Both again and as above captured the characters and portrayed them wonderfully.

The set was that of a living room in a house on a college campus. This had been very well designed and well-chosen stage props including a well-stocked drinks table, and staircase which was very cleverly done, considering the size of the stage.

The accents from all four were wonderful and showed a clear understanding of the dialogue and all had clear diction.

Although there was the odd prompt, for a three hour performance, it can be forgiven as not many would be brave enough to take on the roles.

Lighting and costumes added to a gripping evening’s entertainment.
