A very strong accomplished ensemble opened this show with a tremendous orchestration from Anthony Quimbly which set the scene perfectly. Boone (Nick Gartland) the versatility you show only goes to prove the talent still yet to be unleashed in your career an excellent part allowing you to show the more mature role well done. The Man (Garion Frith) captures the deceit needed in this part to endear himself to the kids when he is discovered in the barn a truly magnificent characterisation culminating in the most beautifully sung soliloquy well done. Swallow (Phoebe Williams) the true attributes of your beautiful voice will not be realised for another couple of years as well you know but at this stage it lands on the ear so clear and resonant, showing youthful innocence and maturity in this somewhat difficult role you endeared yourself to the audience wonderfully. Brat (Ellie Norton) sibling of swallow cast well for this role with the voice to match the duet with swallow sung with conviction each holding the lines beautifully showing good strong potential for the future. Poor Baby (Lewis Hewitson) opening gambit for you young man, hope this leads to bigger and better parts in the future well done. Two strong charactors in the guise of Amos (Patrick Hemington) and Candy (Emily Meechan) gave good strong performances especially with the rock numbers. Snake preacher (Hayden Cawley) another good part convincingly played. It’s difficult not to notice the strength of talent in the company, but I did notice the new blood coming through in the big numbers when individuals were given lines to sing well done to you all
An excellent show overall. Many thanks for the hospitality shown to me during my visit
