Although this is not a favourite show of mine this production was of a very high standard and I must compliment the production team and stage crew on what they achieved.
Most of the action involves ‘The Man’ together with Swallow, Brat and Poor Baby. These characters must be strong and believable. The casting here was excellent with Eoin Edwards outstanding in the lead role. He was well matched by Helen Kitteridge (Swallow), Emma Charnock (Brat) and Lewis McLaren (Poor Baby). The three of them acted and sang with total conviction. There was good support from Michael Manser (Amos) and Charlotte Middleton (Candy) who sang and acted well both looking comfortable in their roles. They were well backed up by Tim Berriman (Boone), Fidel Lloyd (Edward) and the rest of the cast. There was some powerful singing from both the adult and children’s choruses and they also moved well.
Special mention must be made of the stage crew who handled the large set quietly and effectively ensuring that the pace of the show was not lost. Costumes, orchestra and lighting also added to the quality of production. Well done to everyone involved!
