The play written by Ian Hornby , Players of Elstead recently learned of the death of the author.
Directed by Brian Godman who had his work cut out by the deaths of the whole of his cast. The wife Linda (Denise Cleaver) played an excellent role as the cheated wife giving great force and acting ability remonstrating with her cheating husband Derek (Jos Johnston) whose affair with his wife’s sister rather complicated things, the arguments were very realistic and kept the audience laughing. The maid Mary (Pen Bicheno) was very amusing displaying her comic talent in the part, dropping her eyes everytime the couple had heated rows. When the vicar (Peter Samuel) arrived pleading for money for the Church Roof things started to hot up, the wife put poison in the tea meant for her husband but the vicar drank it by mistake, he played his short part well. victim number one. Colin (Terry Gardiner) always keeps the audience highly amused, he helped to get rid of the vicar. The mistress Carol well played by Trisha Haley plotted with Derek to get rid of his wife when along came two friends Julie(Sara Govey) and Chris(Peter Jewell), both gave good support to the production, eventually ate the food which had been poisoned. By this time it was difficult to see who would be left alive, suffice to say they all ended up dead. The audience enjoyed a great evening. Very well done Pets..
