It was good to see a revival of this play which was very well received by the audiences.
There was a superb cast with many of the Masque Players’ experienced actors back on stage.
The couples are awaiting a photographer who will take a photograph of them celebrating their silver weddings. But unfortunately, things take a nasty turn when the drunken photographer turns up, and they discover they are not actually married!
It was good to see Chris Fryer back on stage and in great form as Councillor Albert Parker, ably supported by Ian Quickfall, as Alderman Joseph Helliwell. An excellent foreword in the programme tells the story of these couples evaluating their marriages, all looking forward to the celebrations until a very inebriated photographer turns up and tells all. Always in the comedy vane is Sue Hayes who plays the eccentric maid but all the popular actors got into their parts with gusto and gave us a most entertaining evening. Mention must be made of the excellent set thanks to a bevy of folk on the construction team.
