It was an absolute pleasure to attend Thurcroft Musical Theatre Group, and their latest offering, West End to Broadway.
The programme of songs had been well thought out by the production team. From the high energy opening medley from Priscilla Queen of the Desert to the more traditional, Rodger's and Hammerstein section, there was something for all ages to enjoy and applaud.
Joanne Farthing, as well as producing the show, treated us to some wonderful high notes. A personal highlight was when Joanne, joined by the always impressive Karen Horler-Cooper performed Who’s Gonna Love Me from the musical Spend Spend Spend.
Choreography was in the more than capable hands of Emma Cahill who created some high energy routines which not only suited the musical they were performing but the capabilities of the cast. The group welcomed a new Musical Director this year, Charlotte Kenny- Martin, who had worked hard with the cast to produce some great sounds. I was particularly impressed with the shows finale, The Greatest Showman. The 6 piece band, under Charlotte’s direction, added to the great atmosphere.
Tanvia Holden, once again showed the audience what a great performer she is with her powerhouse of a voice. Holden was joined by Jess Foster and Olivia Wright for the number I Know its Today from the musical Shrek. These three talented ladies really gave standout performances and the harmonies were on point.
The gentlemen also performed well with Martin farthing leading the way. Martin’s comic timing was spot on whilst leading the audience singalong during Oh What A Beautiful Morning. It was nice to see a more confident Adrian Powell take to the stage, and his rendition of New York, where he was joined my dancing penguins was a crowd pleaser.
The entire cast thoroughly looked as if they were having the time of their lifers up on the stage, but it would be amiss of me not to mention the incredible star presence of newcomer to the group Jeanie Barrett. Jeanie was simply captivating and I couldn’t take my eyes off her every time she was on stage.
Thank you so much TMTG for a great evenings entertainment, and for Jenny and Jude for your first class hospitality. See you in Brid.
