Entering the auditorium there was a buzz of anticipation that could be felt/ Sought out by Sally Hughes and her front of house team, I took my place in the auditorium which was graced with a very futuristic stage, atmospherically lit with plenty of haze to really add to the anticipation.
We Will Rock You is based in the future where being an individual is supressed and live music gone. It tells the story of Galileo who doesnt quite understand the lost lyrics he has in his mind, he meets Scaramouche, let the story unfold.
The seven piece band struck up, quite a fantastic sound and at good pace, this being the basis of the musical. The sound balance between them and the principals and cast was very well balanced. A great and, I would imagine, a difficult job. That coupled with great lighting and lighting programming by Tom Pearce really enhanced the whole show.
Great choreography across the board by Jemma Leech, simple yet very effective and the cast obviously well rehearsed by her and husband Alick as Director was a joy to see. The diction, both sung (mainly) and spoken was crisp, clear and unhurried, Confidence on display here of a cast that were enjoying themselves.
The principlal line was very well led by Noah Clayton-Hart and Alicia Fairhurst, backed brilliantly by Jack Oliver, John Earwood and Adam Rush with many other smaller, yet equally good cameo roles across the board.
Great Music, fantastic sound, light and diction, a well rehearsed and energetic cast meant the auditorium was rocking! Fantastic Spot On, another triumph.
