We Will Rock You

I was very pleased to be invited to attend the Spenborough Amateur Youth Society production of We Will Rock You. Queen are one of my favourite groups and this show is a story built around their music.

Directed by James Creegan it was full of energy and enthusiasm and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience, well done James. The two main characters Galileo (Will Hobbs) and Scaramouche (Emily Balmforth) were both excellent and worked well together bringing out the chemistry needed between them. There were the two ‘baddies’. Killer Queen (Abigail Ellis) and Khashoggi (Sam Jones), who played their parts well and fully entered into the roles. The leaders of The Bohemians who were trying to bring back music to the world which thankfully they did (Oz-Lucy Keyworth, Brit-Harry Moxon and especially Buddy-Isaac Moxon who had the audience laughing). The whole cast put on a fantastic show full of singing and dancing thanks to MD Laura Glaholm and Choreographer Rachel Kirkwood.

The backdrop wall of images and effects also suited the feeling of the show particularly poignant was the names of all the stars who we have lost over the years.
