It may have been cold outside, but the glow coming from Wales Methodist Chapel was so warm that even the most hardened Scrooge couldn’t help but feel festive.
With the Montgomery Theatre in Sheffield currently closed for refurbishment, the Company couldn’t stage their usual annual pantomime. However, that didn’t stop Wales Community Theatre Players bringing Christmas joy for all to hear with their seasonal offering, Wales Christmas Spectacular.
The concert had something for everyone and Musical Director, Ray Gallagher, should be congratulated on not only choosing the content of the show, but for producing some amazing harmonies from this very talented and experienced cast.
Devon Whiteley, entertained audiences with her rendition of Surabaya Santa from Songs For A New World, where we were educated in what it’s like to be Mrs Claus on Christmas Eve. There were some excellent solo performances from Dan Schofield, Karen Fuller, Joseph Bairstow, Dave Froggatt and the always impressive, Alison Wade. Tom Ingall, was also in fine voice as our compare and narrator. The children of the company were obviously having an absolute ball in this festive treat and the audience was so singing and clapping along with their rendition of Sparkle and Shine from the musical, Nativity. However, the star of this show was the wonderful Sandra Kynoch. Sandra’s antics during the number, Santa Baby, was so comical that all eyes from the sell our audience were in this lady.
Congratulations to directors, Jayne Lemm, Alison Wade and Lee Phillips. It certainly got me in the mood for Christmas. Here's to Cinderella.
