This was a nice concept. A first half of music from American musicals and film including music from “Oklahoma,” “42nd Street,” “West Side Story” and a selection of “ Jolson” songs. with a second half of U.K. music and film with excerpts from “Me and My Girl,” “Oliver,” “Summer Holiday” and “Blood Brothers” finishing with a singalong of hits from two world wars,”Pack up your troubles,” “Tipperary,” “ We,ll Meet Again,” “Keep the Home Fires Burning” and”There,ll Always be an England”. This was mainly an evening of ensemble pieces with an occasional soloist, all well directed and choreographed by Zoe Leary. One of the highlights was the live music as apposed to backing tracks, this being provided by three excellent musicians, Dave Thomas M.D. and Keyboards, Brent Forbes, Bass and Tony Harrison on Drums. Thank you to Blackpool and Fylde Light Opera company for the warm welcome and hospitality and I look forward to their next production in May, 2014 which will be “ Sister Act” at the Grand Theatre in Blackpool
