"Under Milk Wood" is a lyrical “play for voices” by Dylan Thomas that follows a single day in the lives, dreams, and routines of the eccentric residents of the fictional Welsh town of Llareggub.

The Narrators of the play were excellently done by Dave Ford and Jo Murray they guided the audience through the dreams and inner thoughts of the townspeople during the night and into the day. As well as being the narrators Dave and Jo also played a lot of the characters themselves.

All the characters were played by:

Seb Coombe, Phil Hewitson, Janice Nixon and Sharron Taylor and what an awesome job you all did, the play was fast and furious and very funny, you all done well remembering which prop was needed for each character. I must mention the animal noises done by the cast especially Sharron Taylor they were outstanding. This play brought back childhood memories when I used to listen to plays on the radio and it was nice to see Ian Scott with all the props and sounds that made it feel realistic.

I have listed all the characters below as even I lost track of who done which part as I was so engrossed in the play.

Captain Cat: A blind, elderly sea captain who observes the town and recalls his seafaring past.

Polly Garter: A young, single mother with multiple children, known for her romantic entanglements and gossip

Mr. Mog Edwards: A tall, handsome draper secretly in love with Miss Myfanwy Price

Miss Myfanwy Price: Dressmaker and sweetshop-keeper, in love with Mr. Mog Edwards, though their romance is largely imagined

Mrs. Ogmore-Pritchard: Runs the Bay House boarding house, obsessed with cleanliness, and haunted by her two dead husbands

Ocky Milkman: The town milkman, known for diluting his milk and dreaming of pouring it into the river

Dai Bread: The baker with two wives, often dreaming of harems

Mrs. Dai Bread One & Two: Dai Bread’s first and second wives, with the second relaying visions of her husband’s escapades

Butcher Beynon: The town butcher, teasing his wife about the meats he sells

Mrs. Beynon: Butcher Beynon’s wife, who dreams of her husband being arrested for selling questionable meats

Dicky: A schoolboy who avoids kissing Gwennie and is chased by schoolgirls

Gwennie: A schoolgirl who demands kisses or payment from boys

Evans the Death: The town undertaker, reflecting on childhood memories

Jack Black: The town cobbler, who tries to disrupt romantic liaisons in the woods

Mr. Cherry Owen: A town drunk, whose wife recounts his drunken antics

Nogood Boyo: A mischievous, rebellious figure who stirs up the town

Gossamer Beynon: The town schoolteacher and daughter of Mr. Beynon, enigmatic and captivating

Organ Morgan: Obsessed with music, contributing to the town’s lyrical atmosphere

The play was very well directed by James Issitt, it was fast paced, funny and very well put together. The audience were really enjoying themselves.

Stage Manager Ryan Bailey-Jaynes done a wonderful job with the set especially as the man behind the control desk which looked so realistic.

A truly wonderful show, you all worked very hard and it showed on stage. A very big well done to you all.
