Anyone who knows me will tell you I don’t do horrors or spooky and this one scared the pants off me. From walking into the theatre to the end of the performance the atmosphere was just right. Foyer decorations, spooky characters and great set.

We were introduced to a strong cast right from the beginning. A strange Mr Crimond played with style by Douglas Smith, ably seconded by a very capable Mrs Grouse (Gem Mordin), set the scene into which entered an upright young woman Miss Grey (Carly Geddes) who gave this character a bewildering appeal. Was she or was she not deranged? The children, who were too perfect, were played by Maria Dobrowolska (Flora) and Khye Potter(Myles). I was so impressed by the performances of these young actors. Kept us guessing until the end, were they good or evil? Last but not least came the two ghosts, fabulously looking characters portrayed with perfection by Rachel Williams (Miss Jessel) and Robert Steven (Peter Quint). Their antics in the half time break really freaked me out. I am such a coward! At this performance I didn’t get to see two double castings but I am sure Shayla Teviotdale (Flora) and Callum Baker (Peter Quint) were of equal excellence and so deserve a mention.

The direction was really sharp. Heather you should be proud of yourself! Sound and lighting gave the correct atmosphere, costumes were authentic and the stage setting with the props completed the package.

I know how hard this company work on set building and this one was spot on. Well done to all the back stage helpers and technicians. I hope I can get to sleep tonight and not have bad dreams. Thank you all!!!!!
