Tri-Opera was the offering from Fife Opera this year, with excerpts from La Bohème, The Pearl Fishers and Aida and a very varied and enjoyable evening it turned out to be. It afforded opportunities for many principals. Act II of La Bohème was nicely staged with a wealth of fine voices and outstanding performances. The company all worked hard to create such a busy atmosphere on stage. Act I of The Pearl Fishers provided a strong contrast with Margaret Sharp as Leila, Alistair Digges as Nadir, Douglas Nairne as Zurga and Russell Malcolm as Nourabad. The singing was of the highest standard. Act II of Aida provided the final contrast with Rosemary Nairne as Aida, Elaine Young as Amneris, Alistair Digges as Radames, Gordon Cowie as Ramphis, George Nairne as Amonasro, and Malcolm Crosbie as The King. Visually it was very attractive and musically very impressive. Congratulations to everyone on staging all three works so well and to the orchestra for the excellent accompaniment. As always, I just wish more people would come along and support Fife Opera.
