Not a traditional pantomime, Treasure Island directed by Polly and Eddie King, had all the ingredients of a fine Christmas Production. Heroic principal boy Jim Ladd (Danni Stembridge) performed well in both singing and acting. The Hon.Nancy Polperro (Liberty Jones) making her debut performance was very beguiling and a joy to watch. Comedy Dame Mrs Ladd (Andrew Blagden) was simply outrageous and very entertaining. Suitably evil villain, Long John Slither, (Darren Street) had the audience booing and hissing every time he came on the stage. Squire Polperro (Geoff Embleton ), Dr Liversausage (Denise Hodgkiss) and Captain Smellit (Andy Roe) all gave creditable performances, entertaining in a very professional manner. Bertha Gunn (Carol Gallacher) was highly amusing in a mad sort of way The other principals Don Iguana (Phill Griffith), Donna Estella (Lorna Bye), and the dancers Ellie Freemantle and Heather Wonders gave very good support to the production. The Scum or Pirates of the Seven Seas complemented this very talented group of artists.
Choral Director Bob Good along with Musical Arranger James Gafford complemented the cast well.
Eddie King doubled as Director and Technical Manager along with Lighting Design Sound by Mike Wheeler completed the back stage expertly stage managed by Chris Morley. Fun and frolics at the start of the Festive Season made a very special evening thoroughly enjoyed by a very appreciative audience.
